Creative Scope + Contributions
Art direction for a music magazine in the pre-digital era, including cover redesign, logo, and visual identity inspired by 1980s London design. Hand-drew headlines and graphic elements to match specific typefaces and photographic styles, and built full-sized mechanicals for every page. Marked up text for typesetters and ran color separations by hand. Worked directly with printers on plate production, binding, and trim to match the hand-drawn proof. Coordinated photography and editorial across staff levels, including on-location shoots and interviews for bands passing through Houston.
Tools & Production
Hand-drawn mechanicals, manual color separation, pre-press plate production, and typesetting markup, done entirely without digital tools.
